Since opening our Local Health Program at our Hereford gym, we have come across countless people who thought they were beyond help. They knew that something needed to change in order to lead happier fuller lives. However, they did not know how to affect that change on their own. After countless times of trying the "new year, new me", the next fad diet or the new workout DVD they ended up burned out and tired. Here's how we stopped this happening for Sue.
Sue joined us on our hybrid Personal Training/Group PT program. This enabled us to give her a little more support in the early stages of the program when she needed it.
Whereas most people take some time to adopt the nutrition program, finding it difficult to let go of their previous mindset, Sue adopted our nutrition strategy, which was just to eat a balanced diet (and to actually eat more!), and dived into the training element (to the letter!). As a result of this Sue has accomplished some major goals and continues to surprise us with her attitude and dedication to change.
She wanted to tell you about it. So, here is Sue in the dress that wouldn't fit before she joined, telling you about her journey. Enjoy!
Hi, my name is Sue!
I would like to tell you about my personal journey so far with Faultless Fitness.
For a long time, I knew I needed to do something to improve my health, as I was struggling with back pain and not enjoying life with my family, all I ever wanted to do was curl up in a ball and sleep.
My life revolved around work and my children, running them to and from after-school clubs. I decided I wanted to do something that was for me and me only.
My health was really bad due to back troubles, I was only ever snacking in the day, eating at teatime and drinking alcohol every night. So in September 2016, I began the journey of searching for a gym, I looked at lots of different gyms on the Internet. But I knew I needed somewhere I could feel safe, looked after, and would support me with my nutrition. The 1st message I typed up to ask for information about supporting me, I remembering crying after I sent it cause I felt scared, anxious and completely out of my comfort zone.
I then had a meeting with Steve I immediately felt relaxed and straight away I could see that this man is doing this job because of the passion he has to support and help people.
In the beginning, the journey was hard, very hard. I feel now it wasn’t so much the physical side that I was struggling with but more the psychological side. Because I didn’t know any of the exercises I feel psychologically I was saying to myself:
“You’re an idiot at even trying”
“You’re no good”
“Why are you bothering”
But Steve was quick to notice this, and supported me through my grey cloud moment and never gave up on me.
I still need reminding by Bogdan how to complete exercises because I’m always forgetting, but I’m never left to feel stupid because I forgot ‘again’. I have a laugh and giggle through my session, which is something that’s very important to me!
Don’t get me wrong, we might have a laugh but Steve, Bogdan and Tilly are very professional and are always watching to support and give advice. I remember my 1st spin session, I couldn’t keep up with the class but it was okay! No one made me feel stupid because I was sitting down when they were standing. Tilly was amazing and so supportive; I remember her saying ‘you will get stronger as the weeks go on’. So I went back again & again and have never looked back
Nutrition is something that came naturally to me through my journey. I learnt very early on that I needed to fuel my body in order for it to function. I remember one session, I didn’t eat beforehand and the session was a write off because I had no energy. I realised why for all these years I was feeling tired and run down, I was not fuelling my body for it to be able to function. When I’m preparing my foods now, I think about what I’m going to be doing the day ahead and think what foods my body will need to sustain me.
Eating healthier has had a positive effect on my whole family now. My children and husband are thinking about the foods they eat, and what they have in their lunchboxes. Me signing up to Faultless Fitness has not only benefitted me but my whole family.
Steve, Bogdan and Tilly all go above the call of duty to support us all at Faultless, and we are one big family who has a laugh and giggle. It’s an amazing experience I’m having and I for one am glad I took the big leap and signed up!
I’m 5 months into my journey; I’m more active, happier and feel so much better
